Teeth Whitening using OpalescenceŽ
OpalescenceŽ was the first ADA accepted, syringe delivered, take-home bleaching gel. The patented formula has unique sticky and adhesive properties, which produce whitening results in days rather than weeks. Previous to Opalescence, bleaching was tedious and time consuming, with varying levels of patient acceptance.
The active ingredient in Opalescence is carbamide peroxide. Opalescence PF carbamide peroxide based gels come in strengths of 10%, 15%, and 20%, in 4, 8, 12 or 16 syringe packs. The PF denotes the use of fluoride and potassium nitrate, which are added to reduce tooth sensitivity. The safety and effectiveness of Opalescence bleaching gel is unsurpassed.
The OpalescenceŽ whitening system has been shown to be effective for removing some or all of the internal tooth discoloration due to congenital, systemic, pharmacologic, traumatic factors and aging. It has also proven effective with fluorosis and tetracycline staining.
OpalescenceŽ whitening is recommended for discolored teeth prior to placement of composite, veneers, and/or crowns. Wait approximately one to two weeks following the bleaching procedure to assure stable shade before restoration. Porcelain and other restorative materials will not whiten.
The OpalescenceŽ sticky formula does not leak from the tray like other bleaching gels. Patients experience results quickly (usually after the first night) which leads to high treatment compliance. A university study proved that the gel can be active for 8-10 hours for overnight bleaching. Vital teeth whitened with OpalescenceŽ can remain lighter for years.
OpalescenceŽ is available in two different flavors: Opalescence Melon and Opalescence Mint.
Shelf Life: 24 months refrigerated - 12 months un-refrigerated (for all OpalescenceŽ Take Home Products)
